The 11eme of Paris is a gem waiting to be explored. An authentic Paris neighborhood with all the quaintness and charm (and local bustling cafe life) like any other area but with less tourists. A tranquil place to enjoy the real and unexpected Paris, a greenery Paris, a magical and hidden historic Paris. On us!
9am Boulangerie Bo - begin with a coffee (after breakfast at your B&B of course), and take some crispy pastry treats at the beautiful Boulangerie Bo - famous for its Millefueille, pistachio danish and Chocolate tart (get extras to take away) MAP
9.30am Rue Crimeaux - That not-so-secret street that pops up in the 'unusual places of Paris' lists - and that is a MUST to be seen. Colourful strip of historic homes will have you feeling like you are in a typical pastel coloured provence village. MAP
10am Parc de Bercy - The fascinating Le Parc de Bercy is a group of three connecting gardens featuring fishponds, dunes, 95 rose varieties, open lawn areas shaded by tall trees, small pavilions, covered seating, playground, carousel, secluded spaces, small hills, sunken sitting areas. A cosy place to sit and enjoy the greenery. The lake house often has exhibitions too. MAP
11.30am Bercy Village - Just off the Parc de Bercy is Becy village, a newly developed chic covered shopping strip "Cour Saint Emilion" with many restaurants, bars and cafes built into the old wine warehouses MAP
12.30pm Lunch at Les Caveaus de Reuilly - MAP
Enjoy a cheese charcuterie plate at Les Caves de Reuilly. We love this place and rate it the friendliest outdoor casual terrace. Close to Bercy yet an out-of-the-way location in Paris ensuring an ambience worlds apart from the bustle and hype of central neighbourhoods: here instead are bands of quality-conscious, budget-conscious Parisians, enjoying honest, inexpensive (wide selection) wine and each other’s company. French craft beer too.
1.30pm Coffee at Felix Cafe - Just up from for Les Caves de Reuilly enjoy a post lunch coffee at this typically charming brasserie. You may get lucky with a live band performance, or sit inside for a gorgeous atmosphere - MAP
2.30pm Jardin de Reuilly - Paul Pernin - this garden and public park is just off the promenade plantee (Paris' landscaped highline walk along the old Bastille to Vincennes railway). In Summer it is a gorgeous place to sit in the sun along with the other Parisians with wine. MAP
4pm Le Musee de Arts Forains - A unique carnival museum, quite literally a fairground held in an old winehouse in Bercy village with funfair objects, 16 fair stalls and restored attractions, merry-go-rounds, carousels, German swings, hundred-year-old bicycles, Japanese billiards, amusement rides, the famous Parisian waiter race and more, objects dating 1850-1950. MAP
6pm Le Baron Rouge - Aperitif hour = drinks at this nearby classic bistrot famous for having the largest selections of wines in Paris, and the funnest atmosphere where patrons spill out onto the street being served wine and street musicians MAP
7pm Le Train Bleu - We're gong to let the picture do ALL the talk for this one. But we will add: classic French Fare, delicious, suprisingly not expensive and child friendly, located in the Gare De Lyon train station and open 7.30am - 11pm daily MAP
Or TRY: La Biche au Bois - a perfect intimate French bistrot serving French dishes at bargain prices, if you’re looking for the rare combination of good food and atmosphere, and modest prices, no tourists, intimacy, family feel. MAP
9pm NUBA Paris - Cheekily cross the Seine to what is technically the 13th arrondissement to this Seine-side rooftop bar, a modern design venue with buzzing atmosphere, lounge areas. live music MAP
OR Petit Bain - For some live music and concerts (and rooftop bar) on a floating 'boat'. Fun, atmospheric and unusual. Check their website www.petitbain.org for shows MAP
