For today we introduce: Biarritz Beach
A style beach town, in the city of Biarritz, on the Southwestern Atlantic coast of the Pyrenees, Biarritz was once the vacation spot for nobility. Now a great summer destination, popular with tourists and surfers.
The grand beach with the grand art deco casino behind it, the Grand Palais, now the Hotel du Palais, and the natural island is unmistakable and beautiful/ Walk from the old Port to the West, enjoy the beach and the sights such as:
The Chapelle Imperiale built for Empress Eugenie (Wife of Napoleone III) (nobility who frequented the beach in the 18th Century and built the Grand Palais on the beach) which has an intricately decorated roof interior, and elegant wall tiling. She also built a palace on the beach which is now the Hôtel du Palais.
* A Museum of Chocolate, which explains its history and manufacture.
* Two large casinos, the Barrière and the Bellevue, on the waterfront by the Grande Plage.
* The annual Biarritz Surf Festival, founded in 1993 at the Côte des Basques, is one of the premier surf events in Europe.
* St-Martin's Church, constructed in the 12th century
