a famous and beautiful medieval town in Sth France 



Uzès is located amidst the picturesque hills and valleys of Provence, 30mins north of Nîmes, 30mins west of Avignon, 1hr from Montpellier. (1hr TGV from Paris) and lies at the source of the Eure River in Languedoc.

 


With limited car access, the vibrant old town is full of medieval streets for wandering and exploring by foot or bicycle and provides an abundance of restaurants, bars and chic stores and the famous historic market is on Wednesday and Saturday.



The farmers market in Place aux Herbes (pictured) with its fountain, arcades and terrace cafes, is bustling with activity. Local producers offer various products; olive oil, local wines, cheese, nougat, seafood from the Mediterranean, fresh organic poultry and vegetables, meats from Cévennes and herbs from Provence.
 





Historic sites include the Pont du Gard, Château des Ducs d’Uzès, the Saint-Théodorit Cathedral, St. Quentin-la-Poterie and the Fenestrelle Tower are popular attractions. Surrounding villages have wonderful distinct goods such as olives, apricots, wine, cherries, peaches and truffles. Bakeries, markets, medical facilities, cinema, supermarkets, chemists, banks, currency exchange and post office are all available.
